Who is Levi Dolsen?
Levi is Josephine Pease's Father aka  Leviticus Euphrates Dolsen.  He knew Father Gabriel Richard and people said he looked like Richard.  So when Father Richard died, Levi posed for his statue that used to be at St. Anne's church at the base of the Ambassador bridge to Windsor, Ontario.  Levi had been on the Detroit school board  and was interviewed by the newspaper as Detroit's Longest Living Resident.   He made a lot of money in the fur business.  When he died he gave $25,000 to each of his daughters.  Our Max Pease got $5,000 that he spent on race horses.  Another brother tried to invent a machine for perpetual motion.  I guess that was a lot of money back then.

Levi's father was Matt Dolsen, the traitor not the tavern owner, son of Isaac.  Issac had a tavern on the US side while his brother Matthew had one across the River. Matt was called the traitor because he was in the British Army and then switched sides and acted as a scout for the Americans in the War of 1812.  Apparently hhe had trouble fighting against Detroit as he was raised in Detroit and had grandparents in Detroit.

Levi was born  7 Jan 1813 in Raleigh, Kent, Ontario.  He married Eliza Ann Stevens,  daughter of Henry Stevens  on the 1 Jan 1834.  Eliza died in 1843,  the same year her daughter Lura died.  Interesting coinsidence, since Josephine died after the birth of her 5th child.  I  wonder if she had O negative blood?

Levi and Eliza's first daughter "beautiful Josephine"  was born 18 Jun 1840, and she died after childbirth on  t10 Nov 1877.  Josephine's husband was Frederic Pease and Lura's husband was Samuel Parsons..  Somebody was putting flowers on Lura's grave in the 1970's.... would love to find our missing cousins!
